An igneous rock is a rock that was, at one point, hot enough to melt. The two main types of igneous rocks are basalt and granite. Basalt rocks are extrusive and normally found on the ocean floor, while granite rocks are intrusive and found on the crust of the earth. In this activity learn how some igneous rocks are formed.

- The Fossil Record and the History of Life—types of fossils; the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic eras
